iPod My Ride?...possible

Accessory demands have to be satisfied with the popularity of the iPods. People don’t only want to listen to their music on the iPod while running at the gym; they want to take in the car with them too. With this in mind, marketing geniuses at BMW, for example, have to produce more iPod-ready cars. Currently, a variety of car manufacturers are steering towards iPod-ready cars with the 3.5mm female adapters. Below is a list of some car companies that offer the capability of playing your iPod:

• Volkswagen
• Chrysler
• BMW
• Toyota
• Scion
• Ford
• Mazda
• Chevrolet

Nowadays, most of the 2007 for car models are all iPod-ready as long as they have the 3.5mm auxiliary input. For example, Volkswagen 2007 line-up consisting of the Jetta, Passat, GTI, and Rabbit all has the 3.5mm audio auxiliary input included. However, older car models that do not have this feature now have an option to install the 3.5mm auxiliary inputs module into their car. Featured in the link below is an available auxiliary module:
http://www.sylfex.com/products/AuxMod/
The mod will be compatible with any cable with a 3.5mm stereo male plug.

“What if I don’t have a 3.5mm input?”
An alternative for the 3.5mm input is to purchase CD tuners with the auxiliary input. Some radio CD tuners have the auxiliary input available in the front. With this, you can easily plug in your iPod and play your music. Popular companies such as Alpine Electronics and Sony:
http://www.sony.com/index.php

Car Integration
Another step that manufacturers are making is to make the cars even more “iPod-ready” with a car integration system. This may be a port available in your glove compartment or center console depending on your car model. BMW, for example, is the first to have the car integration available. What it enables you to do is control the iPod using the CD changer mode in your car stereo using the steering wheel control:
http://www.bmwusa.com/

3.5 mm Auxiliary Cable versus FM Transmitter
There are many choices out there when it comes to playing your iPod, Zune, Sandisk, or Creative Zen in your car. Wire this and wireless that, the possibilities for playing your favorite play list are endless and it’s just a matter of what you prefer. The two of the most popular are the 3.5mm auxiliary cable and FM transmitter. What’s better you ask? When it comes to finding that radio signal to play your iPod, the 3.5mm auxiliary cable is the clear winner.

The 3.5mm auxiliary cable wins out when it comes to better sound quality. The quality that will come out of your speakers are the same as listening to your MP3s using a headphone. On the other hand, what an FM radio transmitter does is allow you to play your music using your chosen radio station. When you’re driving and pass a mountain or basically anywhere your radio gets fuzzy, so will your iPod. The FM transmitters such as Monster or Belkin, are a good sound quality only when you have a good radio signal.

iPod Your Car Now!
Hands down, the 3.5mm auxiliary cable will provide you with the best quality when it comes to playing your MP3 in your car or truck. The car integration system, for example, would also provide the same quality as the 3.5mm stereo cable, the price can be costly. BMW’s iPod integration can cost up to $600 including the labor and parts. What the 3.5mm auxiliary cable will do for you is provide a good quality sound without the heavy pricetag, such as the iGoneMobile MP3 Audio Auxiliary 3.5mm Retractable Stereo Link Cable:

This case is custom cut and fit for the Apple iPhone allowing access to all the ports with ease and has a cut out screen to fully utilize the touch screen. 5 things you never knew your cell phone could do...

There are a few things that can be done in times of grave emergencies. Your moble phone can actually be a life saver or an emergency tool for survival. Check out the things you can do with it:

FIRST: EMERGENCY
The Emergency Number worldwide for Mobile is 112. If you find yourself out of the coverage area of your mobile; network and there is an emergency, dial 112 and the mobile will search any existing network to establish the emergency number for you, and interestingly this number 112 can be dialed even if the keypad is locked. TRY IT OUT.

SECOND: HAVE YOU LOCKED YOUR KEYS IN THE CAR?
Does your car have remote keyless entry? This may come in handy someday. Good reason to own a cell phone: If you lock your keys in the car and the spare keys are at home, call someone at home on their cell phone from your cell phone. Hold your cell phone about a foot from your car door and have the person at your home press the unlock button, holding it near the mobile phone on their end. Your call will unlock. Saves someone from having to drive your keys to you. It also can unlock the trunk. It's been put to test and it works fine.

THIRD: HIDDEN BATTERY POWER
Imagine your cell battery is very low. To activate, press the keys *3370# and your cell will restart with the reserve power. The instrument will see a 50% increase in battery. The reserve will charge the next time you charge your cell.

FOURTH: HOW TO DISABLE A STOLEN MOBILE PHONE?
To check your mobile phone's serial number, key in the following digits on your phone *#0# . A 15 digit code will appear on the screen. This number is unique to yoru handset. When your phone gets stolen ,you can phone your service provider and give them this code. They will then be able to block your handset so even if the thief changes the SIM card, the phone will be useless.

FIFTH: FREE DIRECTORY SERVICE FOR CELLS - NOT 411
Cell phone companies are charging a fee to use 411 dialing for information calls. When you need to use the 411 information option, simply dial (800) FREE 411, or (800) 373-3411 without incurring any charges at all. Program this into your cell phone now.

Apple iPhone Battery Replacement Program Available

Featuring an impressive talk time of 8 hours and standby time of 250 hours, Apple assures hours and hours of listening, talking and watching You Tube videos on the iPhone.

Need a replacement for the battery? Apple now has the iPhone Battery Replacement Program. For $85.95, which includes the shipping cost, the battery will be replaced for you by Apple. The iPhone can be sent or dropped off to your nearest Apple store. Be warned stored information will be lost during the repair process so be sure to sync your data to iTunes all . A solution for the 3 business day wait? Apple is also offering an AppleCare Service phone for your use while the iPhone is being repaired for the cost of $29. Synching this service phone to your iTunes will allow you to use all of your own data.

With all the work being done for you, what’s the setback? The iPhone is made so that isn’t user friendly when it comes to replacing. As compared to any other cell phones, “smart phones”, or even their own iPods, the batteries can be easily replaced with the correct tools for less than $20. Unlike the iPhone battery which is shown to be soldered according to iFixit.com’s disassembly, a typical Treo will only need your bare hands for the replacement. The way the iPhone is built, it also seems insinuate that Apple is monopolizing the battery replacement and possibly attempting to out win the aftermarket batteries (which, in fact, works just as well for a cheaper cost).

Will this discourage iPhone fanatics? Not likely as Apple ups the customer care more and more by providing an extended one year warranty with another opening of the wallet for $69.

Sprint Sanyo Katana II. Wannabe Motorola Razr?

The Sprint releases the Sanyo Katana II SCP-6650 just in time for the 4th of July. The new Sanyo Katana II is sleeker, more stylized look than its predecessor the Katana SCP-6600. Including some internal changes, such as 20MB memory and 2.0 blue tooth upgrade, the Katana II stands strong internally.

Another change that came with the debut is the new mini USB charger that the new Sanyo Katana II now uses. Switching from the previous Sanyo model’s typical, wide proprietary port, this is the first time that Sanyo has changed the chargers. The benefit of this is the mini USB cable as opposed to a proprietary port? Not sure. What it does seem to look more and more like the Motorola Razr from head to toe.

Apple iPhone Screen Guard an Interference? or Must Have Accessories for iPhone?

With all the touching and scrolling on the new Apple iPhone it can leave unwanted finger prints and make your new $599 toy look dirty and not pretty... :(

Hmmm..Well what about just getting a screen guard? Will that help? Will it affect the easy touch scrolling on the iPhone?

After visiting the Apple store, we obtained more information in regards to applying a screen guard to the iPhone. As an all touch-based phone, the huge 3.5 inch screen will be more prone to scratches and fingerprint smears. A good protection for this is a screen guard typically used in existing cell phone, PDA, smart phones, and iPod screens. As confirmed by Apple store rep, this will not affect the use of the iPhone at all. With an iPhone screen guard, you can still zoom-in and out of your Google map or any other cool features with your fingers without any interference or delay.

Screen guard protects the sensitive touchscreen against scratches, dust, anti-glare, fingerprint free. Reduces the strain of your eyes by blocking 99% of the UV emitted from the LCD display. Strongpoint of material. Surface is able to bear scratch (4H).

Look for an installation video blog coming soon as we demonstrate how to properly apply the new iPhone screen guard protection film on.

After installation you will feel that is it easier to navigate the iPhone. Finger movements are much more smoother and no more finger prints or glare!

Apple iPhone Compatible Accessories

Now that the Apple iPhone has been released and you were one of the 525,000 lucky ones to actually obtain one, iPhone accessories are next in your list.

If you already have an Apple iPod, most of the existing accessories that you have for this is also compatible for the coveted iPhone. Confirmed by Apple iPhone accessories, the proprietory port for the Apple iPhone isn't different. Below is the list of compatible accessories, both Apple brand and non-OEM, for the iPod and iPhone:

• iPod car and home chargers 30-pin 500-1000mAh
• USB data cables and firewire iPod cable 30-pin
• Bose sound dock and iPod speakers

The original Apple iPod dock sets off the Airplane mode, but it will still charger and sync the iPhone. In connection, the firewire cable does not sync the Apple iPhone, but will still charge. Currently, the accessories that do not work for the iPhone are audio video cables or any accessories that requires a video out. As stated by Apple, the iPhone will notify you of an uncertified or possibly incompatible accessory by providing you with an option to go on “Airplane Mode”, which will turn off the phone capabilities of your iPod.

New Samsung Proprietary Port Connector

It’s that time of the year again as Samsung starts to make changes as their new phone models are coming out. With the release of the Samsung M300 and M510 to Sprint also came the release of different chargers and data cables. Unlike the older Samsung chargers, the M300 and M510 charger are slightly slimmer, yet wider than its predecessor as featured below in the travel charger(Samsung Product ID: TAD437JBEB/STD).

This particular charger was compatible with the older and newer models such as the Samsung i607 Blackjack, SCH-U740, and the more recent Upstage M620. The difference with the newer proprietary port is minor. The minor change in the charger includes a shorter mini USB plug in comparison. At the moment, the official Samsung website does not have the OEM travel charger for either the M300 or M510. However, other websites do have the OEM charger available pictured below in the car charger (Samsung Product ID: CAD300SBEB/STD).

Samsung seems to change the ports on a yearly basis, unlike to its competitor Nokia. Additionally, LG Electronics also follow the same path. For older models such as the LG VX9800, VX8300, and the CU500, the ports are all similar. However, LG also has a different charger available with a much smaller USB plug for the Chocolate VX8600 and enV VX9900.

After doing research, we are unsure as to what is the reason for changing the port for the M300, M510 and possibly other upcoming phone models. The change may possibly be connected to the designs of the new slender models. However, it may also be a move to add and introduce another full line of Samsung accessories.

Why is it that Samsung and other manufacturers always change their ports? Unlike Nokia which only introduced 2 different ports in the last decade.
