In With The New iPods Out With The Old Accessories?

Apple has recently launched a new iPod line up. Sleeker slimmer models with beefed up memory and upgraded features are what these bad boys are stacked with. How does this affect the original iPod accessories? We have confirmed that the new iPods as well as the iPhone are compatible with the existing original 30 pin connector chargers and USB cable. Unlike the iPhone, the new iPod Touch, Nano 3rd generation, and Classic do not have a recessed headset port. That means if you have headsets from an older model you don't have to worry about buying a new pair or getting an adapter to make them fit. As for the AV cable, rumor has it that the video out function is locked on the new iPods and that they will only work with cables featuring Apple's authentication chip. We'll keep you up to date on whether this is true or...

Wow this must be the first. Nokia 6555 from AT&T is using the new micro USB connector for charging and data transfers. Nokia has been using a single pin connector for the last few years and now introduced the first 6500 series models that use Micro USB just like Motorola RAZR2 V8 V9 Q9m. Will this be the first in upcoming changes for the major phone manufacturers to standardized on a industry connector? Why can't they come up with a standard like HDMI for AV industry and have all cell phone manufacturers like Samsung, LG, Motorola, Nokia adopt it? This will make every phone users life's easier and will be heaven for cell phone accessories manufacturers which will only have to make one type of charger to fit all phones in the world. I dream of that day....

Sprint Sanyo Katana II. Wannabe Motorola Razr?

The Sprint releases the Sanyo Katana II SCP-6650 just in time for the 4th of July. The new Sanyo Katana II is sleeker, more stylized look than its predecessor the Katana SCP-6600. Including some internal changes, such as 20MB memory and 2.0 blue tooth upgrade, the Katana II stands strong internally. Another change that came with the debut is the new mini USB charger that the new Sanyo Katana II now uses. Switching from the previous Sanyo model’s typical, wide proprietary port, this is the first time that Sanyo has changed the chargers. The benefit of this is the mini USB cable as opposed to a proprietary port? Not sure. What it does seem to look more and more like the Motorola Razr from head to toe. Apple iPhone Screen Guard an Interference? or Must Have Accessories for iPhone?

With all the touching and scrolling on the new Apple iPhone it can leave unwanted finger prints and make your new $599 toy look dirty and not pretty... :( Hmmm..Well what about just getting a screen guard? Will that help? Will it affect the easy touch scrolling on the iPhone? After visiting the Apple store, we obtained more information in regards to applying a screen guard to the iPhone. As an all touch-based phone, the huge 3.5 inch screen will be more prone to scratches and fingerprint smears. A good protection for this is a screen guard typically used in existing cell phone, PDA, smart phones, and iPod screens. As confirmed by Apple store rep, this will not affect the use of the iPhone at all. With an iPhone screen guard, you can still zoom-in and out of your Google map or any other cool features with your fingers without...

New Samsung Proprietary Port Connector

It’s that time of the year again as Samsung starts to make changes as their new phone models are coming out. With the release of the Samsung M300 and M510 to Sprint also came the release of different chargers and data cables. Unlike the older Samsung chargers, the M300 and M510 charger are slightly slimmer, yet wider than its predecessor as featured below in the travel charger(Samsung Product ID: TAD437JBEB/STD). This particular charger was compatible with the older and newer models such as the Samsung i607 Blackjack, SCH-U740, and the more recent Upstage M620. The difference with the newer proprietary port is minor. The minor change in the charger includes a shorter mini USB plug in comparison. At the moment, the official Samsung website does not have the OEM travel charger for either the M300 or M510. However, other websites do have the OEM charger available pictured below in the...
