| I started with a black and white LG flip phone. I don't know the models, you seem pretty savy with this stuff. But I just got this new phone, so hence I come to you.

| Here goes...don't know if I can get everything...
1988 - NEC phone screwed to my floorboard
1990 - Panasonic portable - size of small briefcase with a battery that would nearly last for an entire conversation - was plugged into the cig lighter nearly all the time. Airlines charged you an extra bag fee...
1992 - motorola flip - size of a brick, but cool
1993 - motorola flip - micro series - very cool, people in airports oogled
1994 - nokia candybar - still nearly a brick, but digital; people in the airports really ooogled - thats when we had those cool swivel clips that hooked to your belt
1996 - smaller nokia candybar - by this time, every guy in the airport had a swivel clip on their belt - getting uncool
1998 - smaller nokia
1999 - that really cool, very small nokia candy bar - more ooogles; batterly lasted for days; kept it in your pants pocket, the new standard of cool
2002 - nokia 6320? also a candybar, great phone, maybe best at just plain talking
2005 - att sold out, except for my town, all the sudden had alltel with a lg flip - ok phone, ho hum, short cdma battery life
2007 - motorola RIZR, very cool; iphone price dropped $200 yesterday, still not cheap enough to go back to cingular, maybe someday.
Cell phones, the killer of pay phones. Watch out for SUV drivers talking on their phones.

| | Great now the iPhone is cheaper and I got the discontinued version 4GB in my hand. So much for that. Already looking for a newer phone. Thinking of RAZR2 or HTC Touch. |

| I can't recall the exact years, but here's my phone list starting with the very first one ever.
198? - Huge black box by Panasonic maybe?? (w/corded handset) that looked like a military phone. Complete with shoulder strap.
Nokia Flip (can't think of model)
2 more phones that I can't think of the models right now because I turned them in for recycling.
Nokia 5170
Panasonic EB TX320??
Motorola v180
Nokia 3155i
Samsung A707
Added note, the most expensive was a Nokia because I bought the purple faceplate and almost every adapter available only to have Sprint's network change and I had to give them back that phone to get another phone plus a car kit I never used. DRAT!! |

| I had an ericson, which had a piece of plastic that "flipped" to cover the keys. It was sized like a mini brick. Heavy with a big battery. It lasted about 5 hours charged.
After that I had a Nokia with a plain grey and black screen on it, no light; but the phone was much smaller. It had cool changeable face plate and back!
Next was a kyocera, quite small, color display.
Now I have a Rokr Z6m. I just got a few days ago and I love it! |
